Customer service in the clouds
At a Cloud Computing event in Santa Clara, CA where people are talking about the technology of cloud computing,
I am sure that other people have noticed the benefit to end customers that I am looking forward to providing:
- failover, load balancing and disaster recovery such that the end customer has more reliable up-time
- SaaS 70, level 2 certificated grid computing environments (they are audited secure)
- automatically, and safely upgrading customers to have the latest experience
It is not just about geeks. server costs, and rails vs python. The cloud provides great automation of processes that would otherwise be ‘fleshy’.
The big take-away from the day: Business People no longer have to go through their IT departments to get the solution that they want. Solutions will be evaluated against business needs, rather than capital expenditure budgets and ITIL processes. We can move towards making the end customer happy as the biggest focus. At least that is what I wanted to hear…
